The Society collects significant historical resources with a connection to Simsbury, its people and places. It subscribes to the ethical guidelines of the American Association of Museums. Notable among the collections are textiles and costumes, Ensign-Bickford artifacts and archives representing early industry in Simsbury, Barber Collection of early American objects and documents, horsedrawn vehicles and sleighs.

The Archives contain documents, photographs, organizational records and material relating to Simsbury and its people. Strengths and area of concentration include the early Republic period, account books and information about local institutions.
